Experiencing email delivery issues? Examining the email’s raw content within its header can provide valuable insights. Here’s how to access the email header in your Gmail account.
Accessing the Email Header in Gmail
1. Sign in to your Gmail account.
2. Open the specific email message you wish to inspect.
3. Locate and click the down-arrow, typically found next to the sender’s details.
A small information box will then appear, displaying initial mail transit details as shown below:
The true, original message contains more comprehensive data and details about the email.
Viewing the Original Message
1. Click the three dots icon, usually positioned in the upper-right corner of the email, or on the left as mentioned in the original text.
This will open a dropdown menu.
2. Select the option labeled as Show Original.
This will unveil more in-depth details pertaining to mail transit and the complete original message.
You can also click Download Original to save the email as an EML file. This file encapsulates the complete raw data from the email source.
