Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an enhanced security layer for your client area. It requires you to provide a secondary verification factor in addition to your username and password.
In the Bluehoster client area, 2FA requires a numeric code generated by an authenticator app on your mobile device. This makes it significantly harder for unauthorized users to access your account, strengthening your overall security.
This article will guide you through enabling and disabling Two-Factor Authentication within your Bluehoster Client Area.
Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
- An authenticator application installed on your smartphone or tablet.
For Android and iOS devices, we recommend using the Google Authenticator App.
Follow these steps to enable 2FA on your Bluehoster account:
- Log in to your Bluehoster Client Area.
2. In the top-right, click the menu icon and navigate to Your Profile.
3. Go to Security Settings and click Click Here to Enable.
4. You’ll be prompted to choose a 2FA method.
Make sure your Google Authenticator App is open on your device.
5. Click Get Started.
6. Scan the displayed QR code using your Google Authenticator App.
Then, enter the 6-digit numeric code generated by the app.
7. Click Submit.
A message confirming “Two-Factor Authentication is now enabled” will appear, along with a Backup Code.
Important: Store your backup code in a safe place. You will need this if you lose access to your mobile device.
Disabling Two-Factor Authentication
If you wish to disable 2FA, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Client Area using your username and password.
- Navigate to Your Profile > Security Settings (using the right-side menu as before).
- Click Click Here to Disable.
4. You will be prompted to Enter your Password.
5. Enter your password and click Disable Two-Factor Authentication.
That’s it! You have successfully disabled Two-Factor Authentication in your Bluehoster Client Area.
